Hi! Thanks for taking the time to check out my website. Whether you are in the beginning stages of planning your wedding or in the process of looking for a "day of coordinator"- I appreciate you taking the time to look into my company and the wedding planning services I offer.
My name is Erica LaClair. I am the owner and lead planner at Salt Wife Weddings. I’m excited for you to get to know me- I hope I get to know you soon.
My journey into wedding planning as a career was not the typical cliche of “I just love love.” I did not spend my youth dreaming of my wedding day, studying gowns and trends. For me, it was evident that wedding planning was the perfect fit when I realized wedding planning is, at its heart, a practice in organization. While on the surface you see a beautiful event, behind the scenes months of planning and strategy have bought the day together. My strength is a combination of being detail-oriented, having a customer service background, and a background in art.
I thrive in an environment that requires me to think on my feet and troubleshoot unnoticed. I like everything just so, and I want everything to happen on time. And while I love structure I also love beauty and ingenuity. Prior to working in weddings, I made part of my living selling my artwork in Key West. There were big aspirations to be the next Guy Harvey. I enjoyed my artist years but, finding the Event Industry was a lightbulb moment. Did you even know you could have a career planning parties? I didn't!
Like most living in the Keys, my earliest work experience was in the hospitality industry. I’ve done it all from hostessing to bartending to restaurant management. My background has served me in defining the experience I want my clients to have in choosing to work with me. As well as, helping me to understand the guest experience each friend and family member should leave the event having felt. After all, this is a vacation they will never forget to a culturally peculiar island destination they will always remember.
My path into planning destination weddings began with my own wedding in 2014. Attempting to plan an event in a different country was an overwhelming experience that opened my eyes to the intricacies involved in creating a seamless wedding day- and the absolute need for a destination wedding planner! I began working in the industry in 2015 helping to coordinate catering services for Chef Drew's Island Catering. From that point the spark was lit. I took on any work I could to learn hands on about the wedding world.
